Session replay cost calculator for founders choosing a replay tool

Updated October 27, 2026 6:00 AM ET · Prices read October 27, 2026 · 11 tools, 24 plans verified against their pricing pages

By Ryan Doyle, founder of UserProof. Rebuilt every morning from each vendor’s own pricing page.

Disclosure: UserProof publishes this calculator and is listed in it, first, in its own row. Every other price comes from the vendor’s own page, linked under sources with the date it was read, and is re-read daily.

For founders and small teams picking a session replay tool by monthly traffic: At 10,000 sessions a month, 7 of the 11 replay tools we track print a price that records every session. 3 cost nothing on a free plan (Amplitude, FullStory, Microsoft Clarity); the cheapest paid one is PostHog at $25 (Pay as you go, our arithmetic from its published tiers). UserProof, which publishes this page, costs $29 on Pro.

Quick facts

Which replay tools record every session for free at 50,000 sessions a month?
1 of 11: Microsoft Clarity. Every other tool either charges, records a sample, or prints no price at that volume.
What is the cheapest paid plan that records 50,000 sessions a month?
UserProof Pro at $29 a month (UserProof publishes this page).
How much does PostHog session replay cost at 50,000 recordings?
$172.50 a month by our arithmetic from PostHog’s published per-recording tiers ($25 at 10,000).
How many tools print a price for 100,000 sessions a month?
4 of 11: Microsoft Clarity $0, PostHog $272.50, Mouseflow €319, Lucky Orange $839.
Which free plan records the most sessions?
Microsoft Clarity states no traffic limit. Among capped free plans: FullStory 30,000 sessions, Amplitude 10,000 replays, UserProof 5,000 recorded visits, PostHog 5,000 recordings a month.
Which plans record only a sample of sessions?
Hotjar (Contentsquare) Free records 5%; Hotjar (Contentsquare) Growth records 15%. This calculator leaves sampled plans out, because they don’t record every visit.

Cost at six volumes

The same rule at 1,000 to 100,000 sessions a month. “None” means the tool prints no price that records every session at that volume. The vendors’ own caveats for the priced plans are listed under the table.

How to read the result

Each row is the cheapest plan on the vendor’s pricing page that records every session at your volume. Free plans count when their cap covers you. Usage-priced plans (PostHog) are our arithmetic from the published tiers. Plans billed annually show the monthly equivalent the vendor prints.

Some units differ: Amplitude and Sentry count replays; PostHog counts recordings; UserProof counts recorded visits. Each is close to a session but not always the same. A plan with a custom price, a price only shown in a browser-side calculator, or a sampled capture rate gets no number here.

If you build with Claude Code, Codex or Cursor and want the recordings turned into one fix with the file and line, UserProof records 5,000 visits a month free on 3 sites. It has no heatmaps, surveys or replay dashboard for analysts; if you need those, pick one of the other tools here. See its plans, or compare the tools in more depth on our ranking of session replay tools for AI coding agents and the PostHog, Hotjar and Microsoft Clarity alternatives.

FAQ

How much does session replay cost?

From $0 to $839 a month at 10,000 to 100,000 sessions, in US dollars, among the tools that print a price; the top of that range is Lucky Orange Scale at 100,000 sessions. At 10,000 sessions a month the US dollar prices run from $0 to $176.

Why do some tools show no price?

Their pricing page doesn’t print a price that records every session at that volume. The price may be custom or drawn only by a browser-side calculator, or the plan records a sample. Some tools price events instead of sessions, or are free only if you host them. The table says which.

How often are the prices updated?

Every morning. The collector re-reads each pricing page and this page is rebuilt from what it found; the date at the top is the last read.

Is this calculator independent?

No. UserProof publishes it and sells one of the tools in it. The other prices link to their vendors’ pages so you can check them.
