UserProof

Best website analytics for AI coding agents

Updated . By Ryan Doyle, founder of UserProof, a session replay tool for coding agents.

For founders who build with Claude Code, Codex or Cursor, UserProof ranks first of 7 tools because it hands the agent one fix with the file and line, then checks it, free for 5,000 visits a month. Harvv ranks second for findings over dashboards. Clarity and Google Analytics are free but return data to read.

One test only this page shows: on November 6, 2026 we sent an MCP initialize request to the hosted server of each tool below that has one. Harvv, PostHog, Mixpanel and Amplitude all answered in under a second with a 401 and OAuth details, which means live and waiting for a sign-in. Clarity and Google Analytics run as a local process on your machine, and UserProof's server runs through npx with a key file.

Ranked November 2026.

How we compared

This list is for a founder who builds a website with Claude Code, Codex or Cursor and wants to know what to change next. We read each vendor's own pages on November 6, 2026 and ranked on five criteria, in this order:

  1. What comes back to the agent: a change to make, or data to interpret.
  2. Whether it checks the result after you ship.
  3. Setup from the terminal: can the agent do it, or do you open a console?
  4. A printed price at a small site's volume.
  5. Real visits: does it see what people did, or only totals?

The ranking, one tool at a time

1. UserProof

UserProof ranks first because it is built around the first two criteria. The script tag records real visits, the counts come from those events, and the agent receives the single highest-impact fix with the file and line. After you ship, it checks whether your goal moved. Setup runs from one terminal command, and the agent proves the tag records before it finishes. Plans are $0, $29 and $99 on one page. Read the Claude Code setup page.

2. Harvv

Harvv ranks second because it comes closest on the first two criteria: one pixel, findings instead of dashboards, and connectors for Claude and ChatGPT. Its check after shipping appears in its homepage demo, which marks fixes as verified; we did not find it documented on its pricing or docs pages. It counts events, about 15 to 25 a visit by its own figure, so 50,000 free events cover roughly 2,000 to 3,300 visits by our arithmetic. Its pitch leans toward stores and agencies, with Slack reports and white-labeling.

3. PostHog

PostHog ranks third: it returns data rather than a change, and it leads the tools that do, with printed prices and setup from the terminal. One free hosted server lets an agent run a HogQL query, triage errors, ship a flag and search replays, and every unit price is printed. It hands you the data, so the decision stays with you and your agent. Some MCP tools use LLMs and may bill as PostHog AI spend. Prices: our page of every PostHog tier.

4. Mixpanel

Mixpanel's server answers funnel and retention questions in plain English and can pull one user's replays. New free accounts since August 1, 2026 have MCP on by default. It ranks above Amplitude because it prints a price at a small site's volume. It is an analytics tool first, so a fix is still yours to find.

5. Amplitude

Amplitude has the largest free event allowance of the paid analytics tools here, 2M events a month, and an MCP server that can read and write charts, cohorts and flags. It suits a product team with a tracking plan. A founder with one site will spend more time on event design than the job needs, and with no paid price printed it falls below Mixpanel on the fourth criterion. See Amplitude alternatives and Amplitude vs PostHog.

6. Microsoft Clarity

Clarity has no paid tier and adds heatmaps. Its server needs a token you generate by hand, and the output is data to read. Good as a free recorder beside something that decides. See UserProof vs Microsoft Clarity and Clarity MCP in Claude Code.

7. Google Analytics

If your site already runs GA4, this is the cheapest way to give an agent traffic numbers. Setup is the longest here: install pipx, enable two Google Cloud APIs and configure credentials. Its tools return reports and funnels, and the README lists none for one visit, which is why it ranks last for this buyer.

A 401 here is the good answer: the server is up and asks a client to sign in. We ran each request once from one machine, so read the time as a spot check. It says nothing about how fast each server answers a real query. Our dead-click and homepage data is on the dead clicks report. FAQ

Which website analytics tools work with Claude Code?

UserProof, Harvv, PostHog, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Microsoft Clarity and Google Analytics all connect through MCP. The first five each publish a Claude Code plugin or marketplace entry. Clarity and Google Analytics run as local servers.

Can an AI coding agent read Google Analytics?

Yes. Google publishes an MCP server that runs reports and funnel reports. It needs pipx, two Google Cloud APIs and credentials with the read-only analytics scope. Write tools stay off unless you pass the allow-write flag.

What is the cheapest analytics tool for a coding agent?

Clarity has no traffic limits and Google Analytics is free to use. Among tools with a free tier and a printed paid price, Harvv starts at $19 a month and UserProof at $29.

Do I need analytics if my agent can read my code?

It helps. Your agent can see what the code does, but it can't see what visitors did. Analytics adds that, so a fix comes with evidence.
